How to Properly Ship Your Knives

Knife in cardboard sleeve. After this, wrap it generously in bubble wrap or packing paper.
  • Wrap each knife separately with either bubble wrap, wrapping paper, or a cardboard sleeve.
    • Do not wrap knives directly in paper towels, they attract moisture.
  • For fixed, non-folding knives without a sheath, cover the tip with something that can’t be easily penetrated. Wine corks work best, but corkboard or wrapped heavily in wrapping paper or cardboard and tape works as well.
  • Make sure the blades are not exposed. Cover them with cardboard sheaths, wrap them in paper, or better yet use zippered pouches. Never let the blades be bare.
  • Put the knives in the center of the box and have cushion material (peanuts/paper/bubble wrap) around them. Don’t leave any wiggle room. Knives that can move around in boxes are knives that penetrate boxes and cut our friendly delivery person.
  • Very Important – Include a Shipping Slip – Put a card with all your information: Name, Address, Phone, and Email inside the box. Also include a list of contents inside the package so we can know if a knife has gone missing.
  • Don’t disclose on the outside of the box how valuable or what the contents are.
  • Be sure to add insurance to the package and keep that information handy until delivery is confirmed.

How It Works

This is a consignment sales website. Folks send in knives to us, we clean them up, research them, photograph them, set a value, and sell them for you (handling all shipping, inquiries, returns, etc.)

A.G. Russell called our pricing a Dutch Auction. The price is set by our researcher, and then every month it is available it goes down in price by 10%.

Prices are reduced on the Wednesday closest to the 15th of the month. New knives are added usually twice a month.
