- Wrap each knife separately with either bubble wrap, wrapping paper, or a cardboard sleeve.
- Do not wrap knives directly in paper towels, they attract moisture.
- For fixed, non-folding knives without a sheath, cover the tip with something that can’t be easily penetrated. Wine corks work best, but corkboard or wrapped heavily in wrapping paper or cardboard and tape works as well.
- Make sure the blades are not exposed. Cover them with cardboard sheaths, wrap them in paper, or better yet use zippered pouches. Never let the blades be bare.
- Put the knives in the center of the box and have cushion material (peanuts/paper/bubble wrap) around them. Don’t leave any wiggle room. Knives that can move around in boxes are knives that penetrate boxes and cut our friendly delivery person.
- Very Important – Include a Shipping Slip – Put a card with all your information: Name, Address, Phone, and Email inside the box. Also include a list of contents inside the package so we can know if a knife has gone missing.
- Don’t disclose on the outside of the box how valuable or what the contents are.
- Be sure to add insurance to the package and keep that information handy until delivery is confirmed.
